UCEED ( IIT) Coaching Centre

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level entrance test conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay for admission into the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at premier design institutes in India. Established to identify and nurture creative talent, UCEED evaluates candidates on their aptitude for design, problem-solving abilities, creativity, observation skills, and analytical thinking. The exam is open to Indian as well as foreign nationals, and it serves as the gateway for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad) and other participating institutes offering undergraduate design programs.

UCEED tests a candidate’s understanding of visualization, observation, drawing, design sensitivity, logical reasoning, mathematics, and general awareness, ensuring that students admitted possess the necessary foundation and creativity to excel in design education. The examination pattern includes objective questions divided into sections such as Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), assessing candidates’ abilities in design thinking, problem-solving, and basic knowledge of design principles.

The admission process is merit-based, determined by the UCEED score, which reflects a candidate’s performance relative to others. Shortlisted candidates are then eligible to apply for the B.Des programs at IITs and other participating institutes, where admission is subject to fulfillment of academic eligibility criteria, including qualifying marks in 10+2 (or equivalent) examinations. UCEED aims to identify students with innovative thinking, creativity, and analytical ability, who can contribute to the rapidly evolving fields of design, technology, and creative industries.

Through UCEED, students gain access to world-class design education, advanced infrastructure, and opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary learning, internships, and projects that prepare them for careers in industrial design, communication design, product design, animation, UX/UI design, and other creative domains. The examination continues to be a benchmark for selecting the most talented and motivated young designers in India, fostering innovation, creativity, and design leadership in the country.
